Inspired by the furious movement & flowing forms created by fish shoals. Especially the bait balls formed when being herded and attacked by dolphins, tuna and birds. The Cornish word for a fish shoal is “Hevva”...
The first sculpture was made in whilst living in Gwithian, in Cornwall, listening to the sea. From the outset I wished to design the sculptures to be able to explore the shadows that they cast, and using a single flickering candle, I discovered a beautiful shadow shoal dancing on the ceiling of my chalet, the sculptures can also be designed as lampshades ...
Sculptures are available for sale at the galleries listed on my links page. Or can be made by commission. The sculptures can be designed in any shape or size, to stand freely or hang. The shoals are quite happy outdoors, the aluminium lightly oxidising with only a slight change, with the steel producing a lovely rust weathered appearance...
