A key element of this sculpture is texture,

the texture of timber. Charring gives the timber

the effect of being enormous pieces of charcoal...

  The beautiful forms and textures of the overall

sculpture created by first selecting interestingly

shaped timber, to be split or carved and then each

piece to be effect by fire. Its a lengthy process to

treat each piece of wood in this way, possibly taking

a few weeks, but hopefully the effort will be worth it...
